Laura Linney was one of the greatest American actors in recent history. Her powerful and flimsy roles have earned her a cult name. Her father was a renowned writer, however she was raised as an only child with a single mother who was a nurse. In the summer when she was with her father Linney discovered a love for theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree in the year 2000, before making her television debut the following year. In the years since, she's been in many films, TV plays and stage productions. She has won many awards in her long career. They include the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. In spite of all these nominations and awards, her enthusiasm for theatre remains in her, and she continues to perform both onscreen and onstage.
