I was a gruelling 12 hours sanding floors, and tearing down wallpaper with the baby on my back while the other babies were climbing in the playpen. Ha! Ha! It all started to seem logical, however it wasn't quite completed. It would take a great deal of effort and a love for shopping. To stay in my budget I took my sons along with me as I searched for treasures in estate sales. Every week, we spent between Thursday and Saturday in estate sales and garage sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. After that, I painted and sanded in the driveway in the week. Looked a little something like this... That's when my interest in restoring furniture began. When our home was furnished I couldn't quit! In the market in town I was able to rent a tiny space and sold some pieces. Eventually, I had too many pieces to store in the available space. The number of people who visited my home over the course of a weekend to buy all the things on the ground. This is where my business Growing Days was born. When my business grew and so did our small family. Being a new mom I was able to find the perfect balance to both start my own business as well as be a good mother. Growing Days was the obvious decision. Nora came into our lives in 2013 to be our fourth baby. Though I was content about the direction my company took, I felt like I was in need of an occasional break. I decided to put off working on my antique furniture for a few months and stay home with the kids. This was precisely what I needed at that moment. After some time. They wanted assistance with interior decorating and renovations. Most of these people were people who had been through my house during open houses for furniture! The time flew by before I was managing a full-scale business for home improvement. The first step was to take clients with a speed I felt confident in. Had you told me my company would become the basis for a DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. If I think back, it still makes me smile.
